A Jewish woman lies dead on the street in the Warsaw ghetto. Joest's caption reads: "This woman died before my eyes. People stood around. No one helped her, because no one could help."
 Jewish woman dies on street in Warsaw, Poland with no help from anyone around her. This photo really makes me sad. I just can't believe that no one would help her. It's awful. The guy taking the picture saw her die and he was astonished that people wouldn't help. I'm confused by that though, if he was so surprised that people wouldn't help, then why wouldn't he help. He just took a picture of her.

In Night it is obvious that Elie is losing his faith. It had become apparent in the first few chapters of this book that Elie was questioning his faith, but now he has almost completely lost it. "But look at these men whom You have betrayed, allowing them to be tortured, slaughtered, gassed, and burned, what do they do? They pray before You! They praise Your name!" (Wiesel 68). "As I swallowed my ration of soup, I turned that act into a symbol of rebellion, of protest against Him" (Wiesel 69). Elie was once a strong believer in his God, but now he is having a battle with himself that is challenging everything that he was raised to believe. Then again, you can't blame him. Think about everything him and all the other Jews have gone through. If I was in his situation I would definitely feel the same.
