Blog post #2- Sean

The first thing I notice about this photo is that how snowy and cold it looks. I also realized that there is a town in the background. I'm sure the town was infested by Nazi soldiers and if they went into town that they would be found and sent to a concentration camp immediately.  This is a group of Jewish boys hiding out in Poland from the Nazis. They look surprisingly happy. They look that they are about 14-17 years old. My guess is that one of their friends or the person that was hiding them took this photo of them. This photo was taken February 15 1944. This was during the holocaust and they probably were only allowed to go outside for a little bit each day. This is because they had to make sure they were not seen by the Nazis. My guess is that this photo was taken because they wanted to have a memory of each other and their rough times. They also probably wanted to prove to people even through the roughest times of their lives they could still have fun and be happy. Something that I learned from this photo is that even people that are hiding out form the Nazis can still go outside. I thought that they would stay inside all day to make sure they weren’t seen. I chose this photo because it was the happiest photo I saw. It’s good to get a little happiness when everything is so depressing and awful.
