Abby- Blog #2: Group portrait of students at an elementary school in Brussels.

This group photo was taken at an elementary school in Brussels, Germany in 1940. The school accepted both Jewish and non-Jewish children. I felt passionate about this photo because it showed that Jews were still going to non-segregated schools even during the Holocaust (which ended in 1945). Many of the Jewish children that are in this picture were about to go into hiding (if they weren't already). Some of the children in this photo (even though it is in black and white) look like they were considered Aryan. There are 21 children in this photo with one teacher.
