HATE Found Poem

HATE

barbed wire
Jews outside
hellish sun
Forward, March!
Faster! Faster!
lazy good-for-nothings!
first faces of hell and death
I began to hate them
Eighty in car
anyone missing all shot
hermetically sealed cattle car
heat, thirst, stench, suffocating
terrible scream
Jews, look!  Look fire! Look flames!
flames from chimney into black sky
in air smell burning flesh
Men to left!  Women to right!
moment I left my mother forever
Never shall I forget
that smoke
children thrown into flames
flames consumed my faith
silence deprived desire to live
my soul dreams turned to ashes
ceased to be men
soul devoured by black flame
SS officer Angel of Death
My hatred remains.

  1. I really liked the verse in your poem "silence deprived desire to live." I thought that this verse shows the agony and suffering of the inmates of the camp.
