Found Poem-Camille Butler

Endless Walking

Every step was one closer to death
One after the other
We marched
Morning and night
Our desire for life ran away from us
Just as silently as we walked
Corpses everywhere
No one cared
We kept marching
It was hard to stay conscious
To not give in to death
We got closer to something
But no one knew where we were going
It was hard not to get trampled
Kicked and whipped by the icy wind

But we did not give up

  1. Your poem was written very well, I like how you talked about the death marches because this was a big part of the Holocaust. When I read your poem it made me feel like I was on the death marches as well. I also liked how you made it clear that they did not want to just stop trying now because they didn't know if something better was coming after this horrible time.
