Nightmares: Found Poem-abby
Nightmares
Life seemed toward the end
Too old to start a new life
I had fallen weary of people's gazes
The smell of burning flesh
And the withered bodies
The night was dark and icy
As we lay on our cots one night, a grave voice broke out
God is testing us.
That night, we lost faith
We tried to soak up the joy, of eating thick soup
Because the weak don't last long around here
It was an epidemic, empty and dead.
We settled down in the evening
But we knew that in the morning, the camp would still look empty
Most days, the soup tasted of flesh
I never found out if the soup was made of flesh
Some of the nights consisted of dreams
But the days were nightmares.
I think that your poem was written and thought out very well. I liked how you talked about the Jews at some point just wanting to give up, but then they realized that they had more to live for if they could escape the torcher one day. I also thought it was a good idea to add that "Some of the nights consisted of dream but the days were nightmares." This is saying that they had horrible days but not all of their nights were horrible.
